Home Search | Homes For Sale | Maryland MLS

This Home Search is great to find any listings in the Maryland area. No matter if it is a single family home, condo or townhouse. You can choose the criteria on the left side such as price, bedrooms, baths, or square feet. All you have to do it to click on the criteria that you want to change and enter in what you want. If you were thinking you wanted to find a great deal on a foreclosure, click on the property search categories on the top left and under legal status and check mark the foreclosure option. Under those options you have your boundary options such as school districts, city, neighborhood or zip code. Now, all of these but the school district works really well. Basically the neighborhood is good for a subdivision or area that you want to search by. Similarly for the zip code or city. A key aspect to to the neighborhood is that the listing agent must have entered in that name for the subdivision or city for this search to work correctly. If you are searching by the city, this should be pretty easy since the city is referenced by the agent and the tax record. I mentioned, that all those work except the school district. Here is the deal, I pay for this search feature on my website from a third party service. This is the best search program I have found on the market, however this one feature is only as good as the local school data. The issue here is, the local counties such as Prince Georges, Anne Arundel, Montgomery, Baltimore, Howard, and Charles County do not always update and give their schools boundaries to the public in a fashion that the home search programs can utilize. For an example, I know that you can go to Anne Arundel’s public school website and put in an individual address to see where what schools zone that home is in, however generally you can not see a current map with a school district overlay. As this this data becomes available I am sure the property searches will incorporate it better. For now, you are welcome to try and use this feature on my site, but I can not guarantee it will work very well. Lastly one feature that I love (and was one of the reasons I choose to go with this home search product) is that you can draw a polygon or circle on a map as one of your search criteria. This is great for those who know which areas that you want to live in, but they may overlap different cities, neighborhoods or subdivisions.

If you have not already go ahead and sign up as a VIP member that way you can save your search and also have any properties that come on the market or take a price drop and have them automatically emailed you. This feature is so exciting because it puts the power and knowledge in your hands. I love educated home buyers and I want you to be empowered.

The home search is a critical portion of the home buying process, but it is not the only portion. If you have not already, please call myself or Chelsea and talk to us about the home buying process. Two of the first steps are to 1) talk to one of our go to lenders so you can get a feel for not only what you qualify for, but also where you are comfortable. 2) once the money aspect is inline, then we want to meet you for an initial conciliation. This is where we are going to go beyond your traditional agent and ask you thought provoking questions and find out what is truly important about buying a home to you. We also will explain how we work and setup a strategy to meet your goals and time line.

I do not have to tell you that purchasing a home is one of the most important financial decisions you will make in your life, because you already know that. I will tell you that it is never to early to start the process, just like it is always wise to consult an expert in the field. I strongly encourage that if you have not already, call us, so we can sit down and talk about your goals and needs. Once, we have some of the fundamentals out of the way, I do recommend for the local buyers, to go drive by the neighborhoods your interested in. Specially at night, just go with someone and be careful, since you may not be familiar with the area. Spending this time on your own, will make our time together much more productive. This is not for everyone, and if you are not comfortable with that or not able to because you are relocating, tha’ts ok, we can still help you find your home.

I hope you enjoy this home search and I hope you love our website, we continually are trying to improve it and have it be a resource for you before, during and after the transaction.

Best luck in your home search, Brendan
